How It Works & FAQs

What happens after you have downloaded the Registration Documents

Step One

Download the Registration documents, fill them in and return them to us with your registration fee by post (within the UK Royal Mail Special Delivery) outside the UK by courier. Or you can complete the documents, scan and email them to us and we will send you our account details by email so that you can pay by bank transfer. (If you use this method we shall also need you to send signed hard copy of the documents to us by post or courier).

The registration fee is £100 standard (completed in 7 days) and £135 express (completed in 48 hours) for UK residents and £135 standard and £165 express for non-UK residents. These completion dates can only be guaranteed when all information asked for, including any additional documentation, is provided promptly.

Please complete all sections of Registration Document 2 and sign and date Documents 1 and 3. This is mandatory. Because of the number of applications we receive, if any documentation is incomplete we will not continue to process it. Where information provided is inaccurate or is subsequently changed we will refuse registration without a refund of the registration fee. If the process of registration becomes unnecessarily protracted through failure to provide any required information, such as Student ID or e Library log in details, the registration process will be deemed to have been failed and the registration fee not refunded.

All information asked for and provided is held in the strictest confidence and we are subject to the UK Data Protection Act.

Step Two

Once your details have been verified we will e mail you to confirm your successful registration and ask for your instructions.

Step Three

Send us your instructions –

When  you want the work. We will ask you to provide an exact date and it is important to set aside time when you receive the commission to review it. If you advise us within 24 hours of receipt if the work does not meet your written instructions all amendments will be made free of charge but this is strictly within 24 hours. It is your responsibility to set this time aside. If you instruct a commission providing only the month as the date (for instance, August or October) that commission will be delivered to you on the last date of that month.
Approximately when your final instructions or instructions/materials will arrive. Whilst we can begin preliminary planning on the basis of a faxed or scanned Formal Instructions Notice we do require the original hard copy of the instructions before we can issue a formal contract. When instructing please expedite the sending of signed hard copy by Special Delivery if you reside within the UK or courier if you reside outside the UK. Your hourly rate is calculated from the date when we receive your signed Formal Instructions as hard copy or your materials, whichever is the later date. We are unable to instruct a writer until we have the signed hard copy of the Formal Instructions sheet.
Whether you require a researcher or only a writer working from materials you have supplied

We assign a Personal Academic Liaison Officer (PALO) to work with you. Your PALO is available for consultation by telephone, although as we are an internet based company and all instructions must be in writing this should not need to be an iterative process. We limit contact to e mail and telephone, it is company policy not to use Skype because the quality of the connection can all too often be variable and if the cost of a telephone call is prohibitive we must question a client's ability to meet our fees.

Step Four

We identify a writer in-house to undertake the commission. If we cannot provide the specialist academic skills in-house we will offer you (in confidence) access to another writer who can do so.

The writer's first task is to orientate themselves. All commissions are written from the materials you send or the research our researcher generates - or both. Any commission is only as good as the materials that are used. If you are in any doubt contract a researcher/writer. You must provide your current eLibrary log in details so that your researcher can mirror your footprint. No commission will be accepted without either materials and/or an accessible eLibrary account.

Step Five

Your writer writes the commission and sends it on for proof-reading. Then to make absolutely sure the work is the highest possible standard your PALO passes it on for verification. This is our quality control.

And then we send it out to you. All commissions are sent out up to midnight GMT the day required. If for whatever reason it fails to fulfil your written brief in any way inform us within 24 hours and we will make all the changes Free of Charge.

Please remember that writers are human. There may be an occasional typo or a reference presentation error, because they are used to working to their own schedules, and these we would assume you would rectify/alter in your own customising. Major flaws we obviously take full responsibility for but what we offer is writing and subject expertise, not proof reading.

Q. I am nervous about giving my details on the Registration Form. How safe is it?

A. It’s completely safe. We are bound by the Data Protection Act and no client details are passed on to your writer, the verifier - or anyone else. We ask you to provide full details because this is our safeguard and we expect us to work together in mutual trust. We are committed to a completely secure and confidential service. Any of our very many satisfied clients could tell you this – but we’re not able to tell you who they are!

Q. If I register what do I get?

A. A year of unlimited and immediate access to our writers. You have your own PALO and the rate for constructing your commission will be pegged against increase for 12 months.

Q. I haven’t got the work together yet. Is it worth registering anyway?

A. Yes. Once you are registered we can accept your instructions straight away at any time and this can be a big cost saving to you as charges go up with the shorter the deadline. It also means that the rate you arrived with will be the one you are charged for the full 12 months, even if these go up.

Q. What happens if I choose not to fill in all the sections on the form?

A. Sorry, but we won’t accept it.

Q. I filled in all the sections but my registration was refused. Why?

A. We do carry out security checks - although very discreetly - and if there are any discrepancies in the information you have provided that cannot be explained we do reserve the right to refuse your registration without refunding your registration fee. We only refund the registration fee if, within 48 hours of receiving your Formal Instructions, we cannot secure a writer for you.

Q. How do I pay the registration fee?

A. By cheque payable to Elizabeth Hall Associates or by bank transfer. (We will email you on registration account details once we are in receipt of your scanned forms). Sorry we don't accept payments by Paypal or credit cards.

Q. What is Verification?

A. Because we are the only ghostwriting service that provides the commission before payment we have to be sure our clients are who they say they are. We will ask you for proof of address as a recent utility bill, driving license, bank statement, mobile telephone bill etc. We shall also require proof of where you are registered such as Student ID, acceptance letter and eLibrary log in details. We make very discrete checks of information provided.

Q. What happens if I commission work and then decide I don’t want it?

A. Once we receive your commission it becomes binding because we have contracted a writer’s – and possibly also a researcher’s – time and must compensate them. After commissioning but before beginning writing you can cancel with a Cancellation Fee payable of £500 plus £100 for every 1000 words commissioned.

If you commission work and then need 'to put it on hold for later' provided you can re-activate those instructions within one calender month, we will credit the cancellation fee to your account and this will be credited towards your final invoice.

If writing is already underway the contract is binding and cannot be cancelled. If your writer is required to modify your chosen date for despatch, for instance if delayed awaiting supervisor comments, a cancellation fee will be charged to compensate your writer for the work they would have undertaken in that time.

Q. What materials should I send and do I get them back?

A. Relevant material such as the draft of sections or chapters already completed. Send these if you consider these are essential for completing your commission, but remember these will be subject to a reading fee calculated per thousand words.

Materials will be returned to you once your account is settled and subject to a return postage fee which is calculated as Postage + £5 handling + Time for Conveying the materials to P.O. Depot calculated @ 30 mins. You will be given an exact amount when you request their return.

If you need the materials urgently we suggest you pay your invoice direct into our account and as soon as we have notification of this we can despatch by next day delivery.

If you do not want your materials returned and wish them destroyed we will do so.

Q. Will my writer read all the material that I send?

A. Yes, for instance if you send us a draft to edit it will all be read subject to the appropriate word-count pre-reading fee and the word count for pre reading and editing includes references and all appendices. Only send drafts (chapters or sections) which you either need us to work upon or your writer must read to orient themselves.

Q. I haven’t got any materials. What can I do?

A. We can provide customised, specific research for you at an additional cost of 3 hours per 1000 words for undergraduate commissions, 4 hours for master's and 5 hours at doctoral level. If your programme demands research we will use the same electronic database access as you would use, you must supply us with log in details.

Q. I’m not sure about my topic. Can you help?

A. Once registered we suggest a telephone discussion with your PALO so that you can brainstorm ideas and make sure we are completely clear what you require from us. This is arranged by e mail with a number of alternative times and costed at the pro rata rate.

Q. How will my writer know what I want and make sense of what I send?

A. We are experienced in academic work and know what is required. At our discretion we will modify your draft as required and in accordance with their profesional opinion always to deliver the best possible outcome.

However if you do not provide essential information about, for instance, the organisation which is the focus of your commission, your writer cannot be held responsible for these omissions. Your writer will work from what you choose to provide and in those cases where there is a clear deficit it is the writer's decision how best to proceed.

Q. Can I send materials or instructions at any time after the work has been booked in?

A. Yes, you can send to us at any stage. But we calculate your rate from the date of the last instruction or receipt of materials, so it is more cost effective to think through everything you need and send it in one communication rather than several e mails.

Q. Can I commission several pieces of work at the same time?

A. Yes, that is not a problem. If you commission everything at once it will reduce your costs because the longer the lead-time the lower the rate. But we don’t begin work on the next piece until the one you have already received is paid for.

Please note that during academic vacation times we continue to accept instructions but this time cannot be counted in calculating the number of working days before work is begun.  We still strongly advise you instruct as soon as you are able, even if it is during vacation time, as this allows us longer to secure your best match writer. During vacations we operate normal working hours and all materials and instructions received will be logged in.

Q. What if my commission is not what I asked for?

A. We provide all amendments if your commission does not meet your written instructions Free, provided that you advise us within 24 hours of our sending the script. If your instructions are clear it is very rare that your commission isn't what  you asked for or expect but each university has its own way of referencing or formatting and especially on the first commission fine tuning in this may be required.

When instructing please advise us by what date you require the amendments completed, should there by any required. If your instructions are clear and given the quality of our writers 'free amendments' on the basis of those instructions not having been followed is very rare. Nevertheless, when setting your despatch date (delivery to you), you must build in time to advise us (within 24 hours) and for the writer to carry out the amendments. Please also remember that amendments must be subject to verification, as was the original script.

Q. What about charges for photo-copying, downloading etc?

A. A range of miscellaneous costs are aggregated together and will be shown under the heading 'Sundries' on your final bill. These include; downloads and photo-copying at 35p per sheet copied for: your PALO so that he/she can liaise with your writer and answer any queries, the pre-reader, researcher if you have contracted one, writer and one copy retained in our office. Communication costs include 1 hour minimum charge for receiving your brief, and a 30 min Registration administrative charge is required for all new clients. Finally verification provides the quality control componenent of your completed script and this task is calculated in 5000 word blocks. Sundries are always costed at immediate rate for the appropriate band level.

Q. Will my script arrive with graphs, charts included?

A. If the commission requires - or our writer considers its quality would be enhanced by using - graphs, charts or relevant art work this will be done. If you prefer to create your own or to make separate arrangements please advise us at time of instructing. Our writers are essentially writers and so we outsource such work using only one company to ensure quality and security. The charge will appear as a discrete item on your invoice.

Q. How do you know what level I need the script written to if it is not for an academic award?

A. Papers for refereed journals are always written to Doctoral level and academic lectures and presentations at least to Masters, unless you advise us otherwise at time of instructing.

Q. Sorry but I think this service is more than I can afford.

A. If you are on a tight budget let us know your ceiling and we will let you know what we can deliver. It may be that you want us to write one or two chapters, or to tackle the chapter that’s causing you problems.

Q. Where does my money go to?

A. We take a nominal 'handling fee' for organising your commission. There is a mandatory 30 minutes costed as 'Sundries' allocated for registration, together with an administrative fee of one hour for overlooking your commission and ascertaining that we can meet your brief within your timescale. We allow gratis one e mail of instruction and one in response advising you that we have located a writer. If communication prior to instruction is protracted we levy an admin. fee aggregated in 30 minute units depending upon the time expended. We also charge for all communications, by e-mail to and from and telephone calls to and from. These are aggregated to your account.

Q. I’ve looked at other sites and this is more expensive. Why should I pay more when I can get the work done more cheaply elsewhere?

A. Yes, we are more expensive but we also believe that you get what you pay for. For instance, unlike other companies, from us you get;

a PALO
a professional academic writer and/or researcher
a 24 hour free amendment period if instructions not met guarantee
14 days to pay.

Q: What materials do I send and do I get them back?

A. If your University or organisational data base requires a user name and a password or other access details, please ensure these are sent with your instructions or before your writer begins your commission. The information must be correct and is mandatory upon all higher degree commissions that demand a research component. At lower level if you fail to provide correct access information your writer will source from wherever they are able, but the outcome of the commission is at your own risk. If the materials include books you must send them to us, or we will purchase them for you on your authourization and bill them to you.

If sending files please ensure you do so in the appropriate format and compressed. In the event of any file being inaccessible your writer reserves the right to use any other material he deems appropriate.

Materials can be returned to you once your invoice has been settled and once in receipt of return courier or postal charges. If the materials are no longer required these will be disposed of ethically and a charge levied commensurate with their extent.

Although your writer may use eBooks this mode of reading is not company policy and especially where a text cannot be downloaded and printed off. In such cases a text will be purchased and provided to the writer. The cost invariably is less than if the text is printed off to be made available to necessary parties.

Writers and researchers have access to their own generic sources of materials to supplement those accessed through your eLibrary account. However, if a specialist text is required this may be purchased on your behalf. For books costing in excess of £25 we ask for payment before purchase, charging a nominal purchase and handling fee of 30 minutes time. The book remains your property and will be returned to you, once again on receipt of postage costs and 30 minutes time.
